Given the importance of the readiness of the marine lighthouses of ( LISCO ) the Libyan Iron and steel companyport and its role in the entry and exit of vessels to ensure safety through its allocated channel and due to the obsolescence of the old existing lighthouses and frequent maintenance by the mechanical maintenance department,thereforeshould be replaced, according to the technical specifications suited to what it takes to port to provide the Services to ships and to keep abreast of scientific and technical development, therefore beacons made of POLYETHYLEN has been imported by the French company (GISMAN) with the installation of a modern system (AIS) connected via (GPS) to monitor lighthouses

Included in thesupplying company bid the value of (140,000.000) eurosfor the civil works and installations, but the administration felt that the work should be done by employees of the Libyan Iron and Steel company and supervision by the supplying company,the engineers and technicians assembled lighthouses in the workshop of the Mechanical Maintenance Department, handling and transfer to the company port before the arrival of the(GISMAN) company supervisor to take advantage of the time after the completion of the processing and execution of civil works, and where several divisions of the company ( Lisco )contributed to the work (civil maintenance,planning and parts manufacturing, transportation, services and housing, electrical networks industrial safety) with the contribution of the free zone by providing technical equipment and crews in the placing of new marine lighthouses in location and getting the old ones out.
3 - (AIS) system: - international numbers (code) have been issued for each beacon (10 pcs) in coordination with the Ministry of Transport and the company's port is considered the first port in Libya to use this technique enabling the ships from keeping track inside the tub as well as been linked to a control station installed at mechanical maintenance department building, allowing trackingof lighthouseplaces as well as the state of operation of the lighting and the issuance of up to date reports on the status of each beacon.
